I have accounts with two providers:

   andrews&arnold aaisp.net

fastmail fastmail.com (a company who only do email)

and am happy with both. My own domain's emails are handled
by aaisp, but I have other more generic addresses, handled via one
of the many fm-owned domains, at fastmail.

aaisp's webmail service is roundcube, and not particularly update.
I've been pursuing a problem with that with them and am currently
using a test server there rather than their normal customer-facing
ones, to see if they can find out why - suspicion at the moment is
that my many hundreds of filter rules are causing something to time
out.

Fastmail's webmail system is proprietary and evolving. It is very
fast. FM's engineers also contribute to development of things like
roundcube, and also the upcoming new standard to replace imap.

There's a useful forum at http://www.emaildiscussions.com/
where in particular there's subforums dedicated to both fastmail
and runbox.
