<div dir="ltr"><div><div><div><div>Hi all,<br><br></div>This week's meeting is a talk, appropriately title to its topic:<br><br><div style="margin-left:40px"><b>'\usepackage[portuguese]{babel}' : how I learned a language (almost) overnight</b><br></div><br></div>Jean-Louis will be giving us an insight into learning languages, both human (Portuguese) and programmatic (<i><b>LaTeX</b></i>), with the later including some <i><b>LaTeX </b></i>demos.<br></div><div><br></div><br><p><i><b>LaTeX </b></i>is a popular language for formatting scientific papers and
publications, often used in academia. Most scientific disciplines
require passing familiarity, if not outright expertise, in the language,
with some academic panels refusing papers not compiled with the
language, and thus sometimes necessary for obtaining a scientific
degree.<br></p><p>Portuguese is the language of Portugal. You do not require Portuguese fluency to graduate in Edinburgh. But it gets you friends and widens horizons ;-)<br></p></div><br><br><div><div>The meeting will be in the back room of the Southsider Pub, West
Richmond Street, Edinburgh. The talk should kick off shortly after
7:30pm. After the talk, there will be time for socializing, with light
bites and a chance to catch up with attendees.<div><div><div><div><div><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><br><br></div><div>See you there!<br><br></div><div>Tai<br></div><div dir="ltr"><font size="2"></font></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>
