[EdLUG] Social gathering in Edinburgh

Hi all

Thank you to all who responded to the poll ; as of today [1] the vote
stands at majority 8 votes for the Monday 1st of July at the Milnes pub on
Rose Street. I expect it to be quiet enough for a Monday eve, but we'll
need to to contend with the fact that it's tourist season. I'll look to
book a couple of tables if possible.

+++ Socials

Like I hinted before, I would like to find a way of bringing these meetups
back ; however this will only work if other people also chip in.

There is no hierarchy on organising a social, anybody who would like to is
encouraged to do so via Doodle/Dudle/alt poll for any type of public meet
desired.
Pick a cafe/pub, poll some dates, meet 👍

+++ Sessions redesign

If we want to do more topically interactive sessions, we might reconsider
the talk format - and do away with the need for screen and audio. I've
trialled BarCamp and AMA among others to some success, I can talk about
that when we meet.

We may also want to have one or two people volunteer to do some outreach
activities : prodding other communities, incl universities, to get involved.

+++ Install Day

Back in the day there was also a desire to do a Linux Install Day event.
Alternatively, in the face of ever-growing subscriptions and AI-scrapers,
do a day on more generalised "FOSS Alternatives" showcasing what people can
use instead.

Is there a desire for this ? If so, a team will need to be put together.
