I do suspect that perhaps the PSU has issues, as at 400W it may have been
running at a high percentage of its capacity, and the PSU is the most
common failing part in any PC.

I think 80% of all faults I have ever fixed have been PSU's most of the
others are down to disk drives. less than 5% were mainboard issues usually
due to capacitors blowing.
