Hi Andrew!
On my Ubuntu 16.04 system, the following ran without issue:
$ sudo dpkg -i dropbox_2015.10.28_amd64.deb
Then I hit the Windows (super) key and type Dropbox, to launch dropbox
through the UI, and then dropbox runs just fine.
I find it very interesting that this command does not work for you, as
it seems as if your system is reading the executable as if it
were not a proper program binary.
What are these file not found messages? I know you can get them if you
try to execute a program built for the wrong CPU architecture, but the
message is usually less apocalyptic!
Could you run these commands (uname, ldd, md5sum) please? I have
attached my own output so you can compare - hope it is useful to you.
