[EdLUG] Xrandr on openbox/lxde

It's all good, managed to fix it using .profile instead. 

Just fyi, yes, xrandr is the correct tool and the resolution required was supported - checked all of this prior to work commencing.

If you want to boot into the new mode every time, an xorg.conf 
can do this. /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Its old fashioned now.   

If the mode you want is not defined in the displays EDID data,
you need a modeline to define it. Its on your head to ensure
the display supports the mode.  Getting this wrong can destroy
CRT displays but flat panels just sulk.

If the mode is already in the EDID data but its not the default,
the xorg.conf can bo used to select it.
Non native resolutions on flat panels are usually ugly as 
the panel will scale the input to fit.

The EDID modes will be listed in Xorg.0.log
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Tell us what you have and what result you want.
xrandr may not be the solution.

Put /var/log/Xorg.0.log onto a pastebin site
and post a link to it.
