Hello,

I have experience with Nagios, and if you're doing a new deployment, I
would advise to not use it.

I would advise to use something more modern, with a better community. I
have used and would recommend (but not in any particular order):

Shinken (a Python rewrite, with both horizontal and vertical scaleablity in
mind)
Ichinga (forked and rewritten Nagios)
Sensu (a monitoring system that uses json formatted config files)

I have no doubt that in reality the future will be vastly more surprising
than anything I can imagine. Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is
not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.
